Vienna’s seventh district Neubau is located in the heart of Vienna and exudes charm, individuality and creativity. Right in the middle: Gilbert.
After an extensive renovation including the rooms and a new restaurant, the & flora, the house enriches the city with a new name and new claim since 2021. Since then, Gilbert opens hearts and doors. Whether from the neighborhood or the other side of the world – Gilbert is an open-minded house, where it is not only exceptional to live, but also inspired to work and enjoy gourmet cuisine.
57 rooms, 2 event rooms and an award-winning vegan-friendly restaurant
Gilbert is already striking “from the outside”: The elaborate green facade, prepares guests for the fact that they also expect extraordinary inside.
And there is again a lot of green planted in an open, Scandinavian-inspired architecture with glass, exposed concrete and light wood. The modern vintage style is also found in the 57 rooms and suites; some of them equipped with their own record player and, on request, Marshall speakers and indoor plants. The photographs are by Christof Wagner, an established photographer from Neubau who has captured motifs from the 1st, 7th and 5th districts and the Prater with his pinhole camera.
It goes without saying that there is a fully equipped gym and a sauna with a “relax area” for working out and relaxing.
Restaurant &flora
Vegan and vegetarian cuisine is the focus of the award-winning restaurant &flora. The chef, Parvin Razavi, works almost exclusively with organic quality food and focuses on regionality and seasonality. Partnerships with local producers, fair payment and short production and delivery routes are given priority here.
In 2022, the restaurant was awarded 3 toques and its chef Parvin Razavi the title of “Gault Millau Newcomer of the Year”. “From Root to Leaf” is one of her essential basic principles.
The &flora restaurant seats 60 guests. The Kitchen Area can be booked for events, as can separate event spaces for up to 30 people.
Gilbert is green. And thoroughly so.
Gilbert is a sustainable hotel that places a lot of emphasis on predominantly regional partnerships. In addition to the impressive flora inside and on the facade, the gourmet cuisine, for which the handpicked suppliers and producers mostly come from Vienna and its close surroundings, the coffee, for example, comes from the Viennese roastery Süssmund and the natural cosmetics from Lederhaas Cosmetics. On the roof of the Gilbert there is a herb garden as well as beehives. “Cleaning without detergents” and thus cleaning exclusively with hot water steam is also on the sustainability agenda.
What else sets Gilbert apart is that it is a family-run hotel where people are the focus. This applies not only to the guests, but also to the staff, many of whom have been with the hotel from Day 1.
Every guest should feel comfortable here and is welcome: for a quick coffee in the bar area, a business lunch or fine dining. True to the motto “truly your hotel”. And by the way, that also applies to dogs.
