The adults only lifestyle beachfront boutique hotel was opened in November 2018 under the management of The Lux Collective. Location

SALT of Palmar is located on the east coast, directly on the beach of Belle Mare. Sir Seewoosagar Ramgoolam International airport is about 47 kilometres away.

The unique boutique hotel offers a heated pool, restaurant, 2 bars, café, juice bar with smoothies, library, boutique, 24 hour room service, free Wi-Fi throughout the resort and a SALT spa.

Accommodation

The hotel has a total of 59 modern and bright rooms with garden, pool or sea views.
The 12 Garden View (33-37 m2), 14 Seaview (30-37 m2) and 28 Bang on Beach rooms (30-33 m2) differ in size and view and all offer balcony or terrace, air conditioning, bathroom with shower/WC, yoga mats and rolls, telephone, Roberts radio, safe, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer, tablet incl. Netflix access.
Furthermore there are 2 Pool Plus (47 m2) and 3 Best on Beach rooms (38-47 m2) with more space. Two of the Best on Beach rooms are located on the top floor with a wonderful view over the Indian Ocean.

Restaurants

The main restaurant is “The Restaurant” for breakfast, lunch and dinner with a la carte menus, composed of fresh, seasonal and local ingredients as well as vegetables and fruit from locally sourced nearby farm.

The “SALT Bakery” offers freshly roasted coffee and fresh pastries all day long.

For lunch or dinner you can also indulge in freshly prepared vegetarian vegan delicacies in the Restaurant.

In addition, The RoofTop bar overlooking the ocean is the perfect, relaxed aperitivo spot. There’s a dreamy selection of cocktails crafted by our bartenders who were inspired by the mountains of the island and in The Beach bar facing the ocean on a wooden deck or barefoot on the white sands of Palmar beach, taste our freshly prepared Mauritian snacks and cocktails made from seasonal fruits and fresh herbs.

Sustainable

The sustainable concept of “SALT of Palmar” is reflected in every detail throughout the hotel. Wherever possible, local or recycled materials are used, which have also been created and processed by local artists and craftsmen. Many design elements in the hotel have been created by local craftsmen, the bathroom containers are handmade by Mauritian potters and the beach bags in the rooms are made of recycled plastic in Mauritius.

At the heart of the hotel’s sustainable operations, all our ingredients are freshly selected from local farms and co-operatives that support farming communities and sustainable farming methods, just as we do ourselves.
The resort also runs a program for local farmers to learn how to grow sustainably. In all these areas, hotel guests have the opportunity to play an active role and make contact with the local population.
