Mas Campassol, a ‘Masía with soul’

In the heart of the Garrotxa Natural Park (Parc Natural de la Zona Volcànica de La Garrotxa), you will find this former farmhouse, a large XII century ‘masía’ that has been completely renovated over the last 7 years. Surrounded by 43 hectares of forest, meadows and gardens, it is a wonderful place to immerse yourself in nature.

Purely plant-based

At Mas Campassol we offer home-made food, which we combine with meat alternatives that you can buy in the supermarket. We want our guests to get to know plant-based products in order to minimise the consumption of animals at home.
We are committed to nature and its inhabitants. Our mission is to promote coexistence based on respect and protection.
For this reason, all the products we offer are plant-based and palm oil-free.

Sustainable

We focus on seasonal, local and regional ingredients. As they are not of animal origin, they do not contribute to deforestation of the jungle, pollution of the air and aquifers, soil erosion and the great loss of biodiversity, i.e. the main causes of climate change and the destruction of our habitat.

Health

We offer food that is free from animal suffering, pesticides, hormones, antibiotics and other drugs found in animal feed, as well as GMOs that are banned in human food but allowed in animal feed, so that the remnants of modified genes from plants end up in the bodies of animal consumers…

Ethics

As it could not be otherwise, our food is free from cruelty to animals. We believe that changing our relationship with the creatures we share our habitat with must start with ending their exploitation.
Food scraps are not wasted but enter the food cycle through composting, fertilising the land and producing better vegetables that nourish us healthily.

The animal sanctuary

The guest house with 9 suites is only one part of the overall project, the heart is a life farm with rescued animals, which can be visited by guests and, in future, by families on Saturdays. This slowly growing animal sanctuary is run by the ‘Fundació Empatia’, a foundation that also offers activities related to nature, health, ecology, plant-based nutrition, etc. in this project.

Know in order to protect

At a time when some children growing up in big cities are suffering from nature deficit disorder, it is necessary to maintain contact with trees, plants and animals.

Mas Campassol is a small insect and bird paradise thanks to the specially selected flora and the nests, feeding and bathing areas. These can be observed and photographed from various vantage points.

The range of learning workshops on nature and health topics can be explored on our website. We are also happy to organise yoga or mindfulness retreats in nature.

Social responsiveness for conscious companies

This synergy transforms Mas Campassol into the ideal place for companies that are attracted both by the Masia and its exceptional surroundings and by its opportunities for social action. The facilities, surrounded by nature, have the necessary equipment for conferences with privileged views and the possibility of accommodating medium-sized groups. The surroundings allow for numerous outdoor activities that unite the group, be it with guided excursions to volcanoes, cycling routes, balloon rides, visits to medieval towns or incredible waterfalls in natural pools.

The ‘forest bathing’ (forest therapy) and the connection with nature ensure that creativity is encouraged. This is also one of the strengths of Fundació Empatia, which can organise corporate volunteering and team-building activities, either in the organic garden, through interaction with some of the animals or with the endless possibilities offered by the impressive surroundings.
