The environmentally conscious 4-star-superior Wellnesshotel Birke is situated close to nature in a quiet location on the edge of the forest, only a few minutes from beaches, the harbor and Kiel city center.

The Birke family hotel is elegantly decorated in the North German style and is surrounded by traditional thatched roof houses. All rooms are spacious, with flat-screen TV and air conditioning included.

Fitness & Wellness by the Sea

Nearness to the sea can be experienced in the fresh air and especially in the spa area. In the spa we only use natural products, including the cosmetic applications. Whether it is the algae extracts for facial care, natural cosmetics with herbal collagen for skin care, sea salt for peels or an amber massage – the sea is always present at Hotel Birke. Spa facilities at the Birke include 3 saunas, a steam bath, an infrared cabin, an indoor pool, a wellness garden and a bistro.

In the wellness and spa area of the Hotel Birke, the soothing and healing power of the sea takes centre stage. Yoga weekends also bring peace and relaxation.

In order to give life a new impetus for powerful personal growth, the hotel also offers holistic coaching programs.

Traditional & Vegan Dishes

In the well known “Fischers Fritz Restaurant” guests can enjoy selected Schleswig-Holstein ingredients, which are prepared for both traditional and creative, modern dishes.

For the vegan and vegetarian dishes, the house also uses regional and seasonal vegetables as well as herbs from the in-house garden. So there are regularly changing vegan dishes on the menu.
At breakfast vegan pancakes, waffles and spreads as well as vegan scrambled eggs are also available.

The restaurant works according to the principles of Slow Food and is a founding member of Schleswig-Holstein “Feinheimisch” association.
The Association of German Chefs awarded us the title of “qualified training company” in August 2019.

Sustainability

The Birke family is focused on the sustainability and respectful handling of all resources. They have won a number of awards for environmental management.
As the first hotel in Kiel, we have e-charging stations for our guests in the parking lot. Batteries for e-bikes can be charged in the bicycle garage.

Location

The hotel is just a 10-minute drive from Kiel Harbor and Kiel University. The nearest bus stop is just 50m from the hotel. A shuttle service to and from Hamburg-Fuhlsbüttel Airport is available by arrangement, about 1 hour (86 km) by car.
