Situated just a few kilometres uphill from the beautiful riverside village of Tourtoirac, Domaine de Pragelier offers refined and elegant accommodation as well as a fun and intriguing vintage concept store. Nestled among the rolling hills of the surrounding French countryside, this 18th century manor house offers guests an idyllic retreat from which to explore and embrace the stunning Dordogne region.

Your hosts

Born in Paris, Frédérique lived for 25 years in Montreal, Canada, where she created a children’s clothing line that led to the opening of seven conceptual stores in Canada and the United States. She returned to the French Riviera in 2000 to pursue her passion for high-end interior design.
For Mark, an aviation finance executive originally from England who has been living in France for many years, the bucolic lifestyle couldn’t be a more welcome contrast to the hustle and bustle of corporate life.

• B&B Guest Rooms

B&B guests can choose from four beautifully decorated guest rooms – Le Cottage, La Boulangerie, Le Caribou & Pétronille.

Breakfast is served in the garden during the summer season, weather permitting.
If the weather is unfavourable, breakfast is served in our dining room at home.

Breakfast, including vegan options, consists of fresh local country bread (from our village bakery), cereals, healthy homemade vegan muffins, cakes and scones, hot and cold drinks, homemade jams, fruit and nuts.

Mark and Frédérique’s aim is to share the love of Domaine de Pragelier with their guests, by decorating the gîtes and guest rooms in a rustic style and in the most charming surroundings.

• The Magnolia

Luxurious and spacious accommodation on two floors (mezzanine bedroom), bathroom with bath, well equipped kitchen and fireplace. Lovingly decorated to inspire a true country living experience (80 square metres).

• The Chapel

Gite for 2 people set in its own corner of the spacious garden. Many villagers have come here to pray on Sundays for the past 300 years! 30 m2 of beautifully decorated and very private living space.

Communal kitchen and facilities

Chambre d’hôtes guests will have full use of a kitchen equipped with fridge/freezer,
microwave, coffee machine, kettle, toaster, crockery/cutlery and sink.
Baskets are also provided for your market visits. Separately, washing machine facilities can be made available to all guests free.

Pool and garden

Our entire garden and pool area is at your disposal (pool is not supervised). You will find shaded seating areas by the pool as well as under many of our lovely trees and garden furniture for your use and comfort.

Yoga classes

The Domaine de Pragelier offers personalised yoga classes that you can book during your stay. For a weekend or a week, treat yourself to a moment of relaxation and letting go with private yoga sessions.

Our Vintage Shop

For almost two years we have lovingly renovated, restored and modernised the property, taking care to maintain its authenticity and nurture the soul of our home. We always believed that such a beautiful property should be shared and appreciated by others, and the ideal way to do this was to offer the experience of staying there.

Mark and Frédérique have amassed an impressive collection of local treasures, more than they needed for the Pragelier project. The obvious solution was to create a vintage concept store. The ideal way for people to take a little piece of the Dordogne home after their vacation

Surroundings

Built in the early 1700s, this magnificent property is a wonderful place to relax and recharge your batteries and is conveniently located between the small towns of Hautefort, with its very impressive 12th century castle, and Excideuil, itself a bustling market town.

A short walk away is the village of Tourtoirac, situated on a lovely stretch of the River Auvezere and home to the historic Abbey of Saint-Pierre-es-Liens, the remains of a 12th century Benedictine monastery.

Within half an hour’s drive is the beautiful and lively town of Perigueux, the largest town in Perigord, with its many cool restaurants, bars and shops. Also within easy reach and well worth a visit are the stunning towns of Sarlat, Montignac (Lascaux), Les Eyzies, Brantome, St Leon-sur-Vezere and Domme to name but a few.
